Why is 12 too many?
We did 12 last year and it worked out great. We faced each of the other teams twice, and then after 22 weeks there was a 4 week postseason, and we finished right in time.

Also, you have the league set up with rather long rosters.
Our league last year had 2 SP, 5 RP and no P, plus only two BN and two DL
So you have 8 more roster spots, that's 80 more players consumed by ten teams.

Twelve is too many largely because this is a league that has a bunch of first-time players in it. With twelve people, the talent gets diluted and teams become less engaging -- higher dropout rates with twelve teams than with eight or ten people.
I'm set on eight or ten teams, not twelve. Let's get on with it.
I still have to tinker with the rosters a little bit, but I like five-man rotations.
