Rumble picks
Slim pickings for talent this year. You can find me at the club (Harper's Ferry) on Sunday, Tuesday after rehearsal and Thursday. You can listen to all the bands here.
My picks: The Silver Lining, Casavetes, Protokoll, UV Protection, Township, Eli "Paperboy" Reed.
Wild Cards: Aloud and The Self-Righteous Brothers
Appreciation Post, Cassavettes, Protokoll, UV Protection, Meet the Day, Vital Might, with Baker and Six Day Slide wc'ing it.
Having said that, aparently the Self-Righteous Brothers do the ludicrous stage thing too. Plus they've got some auxiliary Apollo Sunshine and Reverend Glasseye folks, and the Rumble has always been kind to "scene veterans."
However, would I make an attempt to buy it? I tried to buy their current (three year old album) once-- sent in a check and everything, but didn't get any response at all, a cashed check or a returned letter or a CD.
The kids have to stay away from promiscuous sex for A BETTER SCENE!
For bringing pre-teens into the club?

Just a dumb rhyme, I don't mean anything by it.
Remember the Rumble is a free advertisment for WBCN. The least they can do for the winner is play them a couple times.

As a member of last years Rumble winning/time-traveling outfit The Campaign for Real-Time, I’m going to tell you what tonight’s contestants are going on to do in the future.
The 2007 winner Baker got hit by the Rumble Curse the hardest, breaking up a scant five months later. No matter. Nicole Boudreau went onto internet cult-status with a series of her entertaining YouTube workout videos.
Township rides their second place showing to Bonaroo fame and fortune. Then for some inexplicable reason, they alienate all their fans by doing some weird Brian Eno-ish laptronica on their third album.
However the single biggest winner (despite their third place showing) of the 2007 WBCN Rumble was The Indefinite Article, whose manager pulled off a smashing coup by securing them the role of “house band†in the fraternity party scene of Will Ferrell’s megahit “Old School 2: Masters & Johnsons.â€
