Why are there color commentators for televised sporting events? I can _see_ the field, I don't need audio filler.

The other day, Manny was rubbing Tavarez's head. Remy and Orsillo were both laughing so hard they couldn't even speak. I think that's why.

While it is globally annoying that broadcasters of any ilk feel the need to make sure there are never ever pauses / comfortable/uncomfortable silences, this irritates me more in news broadcasts than sports broadcasts. "Ha Ha - after that last story I'm all out of gas, and now back to you Bob with the weather - nice tie by the way huh huh"
