WEEI?

Did anyone else notice that the game was broadcast on WEEI last night, instead of WRKO? It was there were even ads referencing WRKO, but all the radio call signs were for WEEI. Castiglione even said "Your're listing to the W... EEI Red Sox radio network. Maybe the Volvo is a time machine. Oh yeah: Anyone else miss Trupiano? Between the two new voices I prefer Glen Geffner over the bosso Dave O'Brien. Oh, wait again: http://www.redsoxconnection.com/audio.html

I miss Troop, except for the "Way back! WAYYYY BACK.....caught in shallow left."

http://www.rideside.net:8080/2007/02/good_luck_jerry_trupiano Regards Trupiano see above, For some reason on Wednesday nights, the games are on WEEI and Mike Adams does a 15 minute show before the pregame. Every other game is on RKO which has a better signal.

But they are all on 103.7 FM in Providence, if you live near there like I do.

Baseball on FM is weird. 95.1 FM on Cape Cod... I think.

I thought so at first, but then I started to like hearing the full spectrum of the announcer's voices.

tgl, you didn't apologize for calling Trupiano a "jerk" in my previous post. And Glen Geffner cites pitch counts way too much. I find it extremely annoying and Dick Radatz is spinning in his grave.

This is why I prefer politics to baseball. Geffner sounds better than O'Brien, that's all. Oh, and O'Brien has the same way of inserting conclusions about a players ethical and moral abilities into the color commentary that Trupiano did. Were talking about MLB players here, not moral lodestars. Maybe they all do it, although I like to think Castiglione is always reluctant too. Case in point: I DON'T CARE TO CONTEMPLATE THE MESSAGE HANK AARON AND BUD SELIG ARE SENDING BY SAYING THEY WON'T BE AROUND WHEN B. BONDS CRACKS 755!!

"Moral lodestars" is pretty fantastic.

At the same time, color commentary can add innuendos about ethics and moral abilities that we can enjoy, because it IS sports. In the late innings of a blow out, one might enjoy hearing about Giambi's experience at a strip club the night before, or the seven kids in section 9 all wearing yellow t-shirts supporting cancer research. I loved it when ESPN dropped allusions as to why Jeter's sexual exploits will always keep him from being embraced by NY the way DiMaggio was. Take that slice away from sports commentary and your left with no color in your color commentary, and Joe Theisman will be talking about himself the whole time. Dennis Miller is rolling in his grave.

Gold star!

There's always this "kids these days" aspect to it. Ty Cobb was a prick and he's in the Hall of Fame. Why shouldn't Barry Bonds make it?
