Home Taping Is KILLING The Music Industry!
ARRRGH
Whoever is doing photos for those guys is really good. Their photo section is quickly becoming one of my fave things to check out. I loved the GZA t-shirted Thurston Moore from a few weeks back.
Some notes:
1. I'm not convinced that "4 track demos" is better than "dry", but the cover art is fantastic (from a Women's studies 101 perspective), and I appreciate the extra tracks.
2. The person who said "What should I play? Play the good ones!" for the Peel Sessions is spot on, and some of them are even better than the originals.
3. "Dance Hall" is the weakest of the bunch
4. The Thom Yorke collaboration is great on "Stories." I particularly like "The Whores" "Horse in My Dreams" and "We Float", but frankly I like every song on the album. I like the urban-ness of it, the openness to experience, the overall feel.
5. "shame" from Uh huh her is my favorite of this one. "Shame is the shadow of love" = awesomeness. "You come through" is a close third. It's funny I really like the slow songs on this album. They're really heartfelt and 'tender' which is something she said about this album, but was a side of her as an artist I never was into. I love this one. "The Darker Days" is my least favorite.
6. "White chalk" I have yet to listen to, but because I'm a newb when it comes to downloading, I might have to buy it.
In short, thanks, Ep, for taking this one on. It really has been a pleasure for me, and probably a bunch of others.
