America Tortures

MFGR is right, once again. We are run by douche bag torturers. My apologies to douche bags everywhere.

Yes, all of this is terrible and cements the administration as America's worst in history, and Bush as one of the biggest murders in world history (300-400 thousand?). Yet, I cannot grasp a "Why" to all the torture? Torture is one of the least effective methods of interrogation. People say anything. Why are they doing it? Is it some payback? Do the torturers enjoy it, like Saddam did? It makes no sense, and it's not the America I signed up for.

Torturers are those who mistake force for strength. RE: signed up That day in kindergarten when you had to take the Pledge of Allegiance, no backsies?

Should have read the fine-print disclosure statement next to the milk and cookies...

Forget impeachment, I think jail time is in order here.

TPM has some insight.

Wait, you agree with me on something?!

I conscientiously objected to the Pledge as a kid. I used to quietly pledge my allegiance to the "Confederation of Helvetia," both because their name filled the gap inconspicuously in the groupthink chant and because I admired their refusal to join wars. On the other hand, some of their cantons didn't give women the vote until the 1980s, so on further reflection I think I prefer to stay an American and try to fix what's wrong with America.

Helvetia, a font of wisdom?

A shirt like this would be a fine gift for pchippy (minus the 'c'):

Being tortured is like swimming. Will someone please stop this? McCain and Biden look better and better everyday.

Bush can use torture and the American people have no say.

Special thanks to Sen. Schumer...

Not change, I can't believe it.

Decent read. I'm not going to argue whether this "real true" torture or not, cause I actually see both sides. What I want to know is why didn't Bush, Cheney & Co. bring these assholes to justice? Why not try them, then kill them or jail them. What do we gain by the torture?

Poignant piece on how Bush, Cheney & Co. are not be hald accountable for their crimes. Makes me really angry these guys probably won't see jail time.
