I think I've said it in this space before, but my favorite thing about The Holidays (maybe the only thing I like) is egg nog. Delicious, store-bought, alcohol-free, ultra-emulisfied egg nog. It's what's for breakfast.

I've no $$ for presents this year, but everyone will live. But my holidays got brighter because of the "Charlie Brown" tree I received courtesy of the Pchippys, better than any tree I could buy.

I've been hitting this like it's going out of style:
I even put pine cones and shit all over my table every time I pour me a fancy glass of it.

egg nog does have the propensity to make a thing or two in my life that much better, yes.

Fat.

I pretty much wanted to vote for choices 1, 2, and 4.
As for 3: That's something that really only kicks in for me around 6AM on Christmas Day.
As for 5: The joy of Christmas and the melancholy of Christmas are inextricably linked to each other, in my mind. But the joy is a solemn, deadly-serious kind of joy, and the melancholy is tinged with sweetness. I don't find that I'm much given to the kind of black depression that I hear other people suffer this time of year.
Gotta leave the computer now and get back to knitting. There are infants in snowy Germany whose heads are cold!

Thanks, pchippy. I agree with you on the whole, but choice 5 is kicking my ass right now. This time of year I feel a little like Haley Joel Osment, y'know?

No idea what that means. But it doesn't sound like something pleasant, so you have my sympathy, in any case.

Eh, just the ghosts of Christmas Past acting up. Your sympathy gratefully received, m'dear. That's my favorite present this year.
Will you be in Deutschland for the holidays this year, oh ye of many Chips?
Posted by pchippy on 2007-12-20 17:23:33 +0000
No, Deutschland is coming to us, along with Tchad. No babies coming from Tchad, though; Deby has made it clear that his country's children aren't free for the taking, even if you dress them up in gauze bandages and smear fake blood on them.
Oh well. Mrs. chippy and I will just have to get along without a brace of African toddlers for now.
