hey, HUMANWINE

Thank you, HUMANWINE (the rs.n poster) for pointing that Nervous Relatives site. I thought it was helpful. And I'm actually fascinated by HUMANWINE (the band). Dye and 10D, don't think that the spam/horn comments aren't a little pot and kettle? Who here hasn't tooted their own horn on this board before? I certainly do. AND as an officer of the F4TR army, I would totally have posted as much as I could on messageboards during their campaign, if I had known how. [I would have posted this in the other thread except I got tired of scrolling right in order to look for the 'post' button.]

Like I said, I'm all for new members. But I agree with MC -- getting onto every messageboard is a bit much, especially if it's just for momentary hype.

Good thing no one made the suggestion that I sign up for a F4TR gmail account and get on messageboards, eh? Or worse, if this was possibility in 1999? I would have been R.A.B.I.D. PS-- I'm listening to "A Mile in Cold Water" right now.

Jeez, 1999 woulda gotten me into some serious shit, too.

Reposted from the Rumble thread: As far as posting here to "clear our name" goes. Take yourself out of your comfortable one-way glass of the world that is virtual and imagine someone was posting on a site that you were cheating on your girlfriend/boyfriend or that you raped their sister/brother. What do you do? Do you take the few minutes to post the facts or do you "play it cool" and ignore that it even happened? to us, it's simple, we take a few minutes to post the truth because it's easy and it's the truth. As far as this whole spam, tooting our own horn bit goes...We walked into a post that was conveying a common message of disinformation about this year's Rumble. As bearers of the current information we posted our Rumble fact sheet page. When you're D.I.Y you use every opportunity to tell folks about what you're up to. We like to do things thoroughly around here and do it ourselves. We do all our own promotion. We don't hire a publicity firm to make us look like the cool kids who just get "written about" all the time, we hit the boards and the streets and we're following a long tradition of bands who have done it before us. Grassroots organizing is not "un-cool". It's actually very awesome. It might seem like the "cool thing" act like you don't care about anything but we're all about honesty over here. We are honestly excited to learn about the Rumble and the bands that are in it especially this year, because we are in it. The bands must be excited about it or they wouldn't have accepted the invitation from WBCN. That's we we created a comprehensive page for the event. Honesty is cool. We're not looking for people to agree with our songs and our lifestyle at all, it's just still somehow surprise how low the bar is when it comes to bratty chatters. To the grown-ups here. Thanks for being real. We appreciate the warmth rather than the 3rd grade style catty chat board crap that only continues to separate us and prove how serious insecurities can muddle an issue. word. Instead of having a problem scrolling to the right to hear what was going on, I'm posting here because I'm having a problem with that ass picture. HELLO!! SOME OF US HAVE TO PRETEND WE'RE WORKING HERE, 10D! Anyway, I'm having trouble figuring out what I hate the most about this post. Is it HUMANWINE schooling us in DIY? Or is it HUMANWINE telling us that they corner the market on honesty and truth? Or is it HUMANWINE telling us that their lifestyle is oh-so-different than ours? If you had read any other thread than the ones that pertained to you, you would know that we are actually NOT THAT DIFFERENT FROM YOU. And that some of us HAVE SIMILAR OPINIONS. And some of us have done, and are still doing some pretty cool shit. Like dye had Ian MacKaye come and speak in his class last week. And some of us have actually done grass-roots organizing in housing projects. One of us started and ran a DIY all-ages music and art space in Worcester for years. One of our mothers has gotten arrested 3 times for anti-war protesting. We have had a vegetarian dinner group going weekly for about 8 years. You know what I can't stand about kids these days? It's this "holier than thou" vegan bio-diesel hypocrisy. You couldn't possibly imagine that other people might have a way of living simply and honestly without doing it your way. And guess what? You learn from and like us and learn from us if you had a little humility, or interest in what we are/have done. Blech.

Hear hear! And, I'm sorry about the ass, but the autoplay of the spitvalve video is more annoying. And, blech!

Posted by pamsterdam on 2008-04-10 14:55:57 +0000
Sorry about the spitvalve video, 10D.

All is forgiven.

I think we can all agree that the best course of action is to let this one go. Right?

Posted by G lib on 2008-04-10 17:10:43 +0000
You're oppressing me.

Posted by dyedon8 on 2008-04-10 17:18:05 +0000
I don't mean to oppress you G lib, but get over it already. Unless you're oppressed by unclear writing, in which case, you're already so fucked in this modern world that you might as well shoot yourself now.

I'm almost ready to let this go, but before I do, I just googled HUMANWINE and came up with enough hits that I couldn't even begin to wade through and find RSN links (I looked at the first 30 or so pages only). Dudes have either a really powerful bot, or have way extra freetime.

Posted by mahatma chani on 2008-04-10 18:46:11 +0000
"HUMANWINE" + "Rumble" = rs.n as the fifth hit on Google.

Posted by MF DU on 2008-04-10 18:48:58 +0000
you, sir, are a more sophisticated googler than I.

She oppresses me.

Awesome. A friend of mine is on a many-month, coast-to-coast typo-fixing crusade. His blog is here.

I remember reading a criticism of this tour in last weeks newspapers (I think), or maybe it was a blog. Can't find the post, yet.

Posted by virtue on 2008-04-11 14:01:53 +0000
Sir, I believe you meant type "last week's."

I'd like to join his army.

If I remember correctly, circa 1996 do8 was thinking of marketing himself as an independent misspelling & typo contractor - leaving flyers on business vans with 'anguished English' slogans with quotes like, "I can correct the text written on your van for $____. Call me at 555-xxxx if you're interested." Seemed like a brilliant idea...

I kind of like her. Despite the mismatched underthings. I mean, come on. Make an effort, girl!

Fantastic.

Yikes!

FWIW: There is a florist in Palmer MA (the neighboring town to my glorious Monson, and the proposed site of one of Mr. Deval's casino ideas) that notifies motorists that they sell "bokays", not "bouquets". It is one of the more painful things I look at every day.

Dammit. No more posting before 8am.

Dammit.

That would drive me nuts. In Dutch, plurals generally end in -en (boek = one book, boeken = more than one book), but words borrowed from other languages (including Latin) are generally made plural with apostrohe s. So - pizza, pizza's. Gives me migranes, man.
