Day The Snow Came - Britain Stopped

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/feb/02/snow-brings-britain-travel-chaos Facebook is chock full of pictures of London's snowy streets and snow people on Brighton Beach. When it snowed in Marseilles about a week ago the city said that they couldn't find the salt truck. I find this all funny.

When I was 4 or 5 and we had moved from White Trashua to a suburb of Dallas / Fort Worth Texas area called Carrollton, a neighbor asked my dad what he planned to do with such an odd large oversized metal shovel in my Dad's garage. My Dad still has fun telling this story. Stuff always came to a standstill in Texas when it iced / snowed. Good Stuff...

I love seeing people unfamiliar with snow frolicking in it. That childlike excitement is heartwarming. At UNH I lived in the "international" dorm, and one of the highlights of the year was seeing the students from tropical climates react to the first snowstorm of the year. Kaz, a student from southern Japan, ran out into it, threw himself into a snowdrift, stayed there - rolling around - for about an hour, then came back inside covered in the stuff, shouting "SNOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!" A week later he wanted to know when winter would be over.
