Throbbing Gristle NYC

Pitchfork announced this morning that Throbbing Gristle is playing NYC on Apr 16 - and the show is already sold out. TG is looking into playing another show there on Apr 26 (Sun). If that happens, I'll probably get a ticket, lemme know if ya wanna go.

I remember TG as a post-punk industrial noise band, But I really don't know their stuff. Convince me why I should drive to NYC on a Sunday, TFC.

If you wanna know their stuff, you gots to go to the show. [I've only heard 20 Jazz Funk Greats, once, so I'm no expert, but I like it] It'll be fun. Me, MFDU, NYC...there's not much more fun than that. I know of a great pizza place in the Village, as good as Santarpio's. Pizza and Gristle.

Tues Apr. 28th at Masonic Hall, Brooklyn, with Alan Vega and Emeralds. Still thinking I might go. Anyone else?

Tix end up being about $40 each. They're doing two sets - one's a soundtrack to a 1980 Derek Jarman film, the other's just music.

Emerelds are okay -- Teengenerate-esque Elvis garage-via-Japan stuff.

Just listened to them on myspace - and you're absolutely right!

I'm leaning towards not making the trip. Since I first posted this I try to stay more local. But all these bands and their tours...they go to NYC...they go to PVD...they go to Northampton...they will sometimes even go somewhere in CT. But will they come to Boston? Nope. Well they can go screw, they're missing out.

mike watt & the missingmen aren't missing out - they're at TT's on Weds May 6, which is where I plan on being that night, too. Lemme know if any y'all want to go, too.

I'm likely coming down for it -- Mary Gaitskill reads the same day in Brookline. What a twofer!

Just wikipedia'd Gaitskill - looks like pretty salty stuff. I did like the movie version of Secretary.

Live on wfmu on 4/15/09 at 8pm. Should be pretty cool. p.s. Does anyone know how on PCs to set up a "vcr timer" ,if you will, to record an audio stream if you are not able to be at home during that particular time threshold?
