National Journal speaks up

http://nationaljournal.com/about/njweekly/stories/2004/0830nj_liberalratings.htm "Disconcerting because the shorthand used to describe our ratings of Kerry and Edwards is sometimes misleading -- or just plain wrong." Now we can stop with this "most liberal stuff."

Don't get me wrong, I really wish he _was_ the most liberal member of the Senate.

So do I, but he isn't.

Honor had a great comment last night, after Bush described Kerry as being on the left bank. Something to the effect of Bush and Kerry being in the same canoe, it's just sideways in the stream.

Bush used the "most liberal" line last night. Can we really have a president that's this out of touch?

It's called "The Message". Bush and Rove figured out the message about 10 months ago. They are going to stick relentlessly with the game plan. This is how Rove runs campaigns. Usually, he wins. 34-7 lifetime.

so, just to make sure I understand correctly, when (or I suppose I should really say IF because the USA people are pretty damn polarized) Bush is RE-ELECTED (yes he was elected in 2000), nothing could be attributed to his own presidency - it will all be due to Karl Rove's trickery / conspiracy / cheating. No?

Karl Rove's trickery / conspiracy / cheating I'm implying that Rove runs a strict campaign, they stick to a message. In so far as having a campaign strategy is trickery, well, you decide. I guess I more shocked that dawnbixtler is shocked at the charge than shocked of the charge. The message shades the truth, yes. Kerry is "liberal". Is he the most liberal Senator currently serving? No. rladew, are you standing up and claiming all politicians win on the merit of their record? Please.

It was my understanding Bush was appointed President by the Supreme Court, as the state of Florida was told not to recount its votes. I guess you can hold onto Bush being "elected" by those 570 votes during the original tabulation, but if there was a recount all the clues point to a Gore victory, hence "elected" doesn't make sense.

I'm hoping Nov. 3 will mark the end of the 2000 election.

Did you get that test you didnt put your name on back in 3rd grade corrected? How about a credit card application you didn't sign? Voter spoilage will happen if you don't check yr work, simple and plain. It sends chills down my spine to think what would happen if all other states in our country were as over analyzed and over politicized as Florida was. My argument is that these recounts shouldn't have been done at all. If you are to be a voter in this counry take the time to understand how it works instead of blaming others for holding you back. Nov 3rd will be a day I will wish whomever wins best of luck in running our country the best way possible. I will not, however until then use a lot of extraneous issues to confuse this election.

What if others did hold you back? Just suck it up and say "oh well, next time they'll count my vote?" No, it's a democracy!!!
