Bush endorsements

link Putin does not have a favorable rating here in the States. Will this hurt or help Bush?

All those international terrorist, plotting together to get Bush elected. If Putin knows this for a fact, maybe we should get the CIA & FBI on his case.

If you consider newspaper endorsements to be a big deal, and Bush beat Gore by a big amount in 2000: link than the fact that Kerry still leads Bush even after the pentultimate week, bodes very well for the challenger. link It's looking like the race may not be that close... Orwell/Kafka in '04

Jinx!

If Bush wins re-election, that makes it less likely he'll get Bud Selig's job.

I couldn't help but rub in Dawn, yr beloved Dallas Morning News, which housed the writers that spawned the Rove expose 'Bush's Brain' endorsed Bush.... also what about Kerry's hometown Herald? Chicago? Cincinnati? Seems like there are a lot of uneducated gun lovin god fearin rubes out there that cant see the truth.... _______________________________ If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black

You said it!

What about the other hometown paper? The one that isn't a tabloid?

Yep. I'm too dumb to vote for the most correct candidate. Probably wont matter since, despite the Onion's humor, Nov 3rd IS the correct election date, since Lawyers have now taken control of the electoral process too..... _______________________________ If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black

...and we can thank K. Rove for that.

ouch. that hurt. for the record, Ive always been allergic to the Herald... but teasing Kerry with the Hometown thing was too good to resist... _______________________________ If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black

yep Karl rove has complete control over me. He spins it and I form my views accordingly. I have no deductive reasoning or personal responsibility in forming my own political opinions. I'm glad to see we're getting somewhere here. _______________________________ If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black

To clarify: We can thank Karl Rove for the use of lawyers in the determination of the final tally.

http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/dhenninger/?id=110005821 As far as Rove being the bogey man who is responsible for our religous fervence of taking things to court, I beg to differ. I see the Democrats, instead of respecting the constitution to let the House of Reps. decide who is president in a tie from election results, the Dems release a "Swat" team of lawyers, (DNC's words, not mine) and try to let the courts decide who is president. The recounts last time in Florida shouldn't have happened at all. Period. If you dont agree with Constitutional law, I can respect that. but that is what the law is currently, if one goes through Congress to change that because they dont like how it is setup - please do so by all means! We are still (I think - I hope) a democracy - but you cant follow yr own rules about conducting an election and circumvent the constitution. _______________________________ If you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack Maybe you'll love me when I fade to black

Karl Rove used continued legal pressure to force a recount lasting nearly 11 months in a judicial race in Alabama in 1994. source It was the Bush Campaign that appealed to the Supreme Court to overrule the Florida Supreme Court in 2000. I don't have a source link, but that's my recollection. Yes, the Dems have a legion of lawyers, but so do the Republicans! In fact, it would seem that the Republicans are better at this tactic. I share your disdain for judges interfering with elections, but both sides are ready and willing to do this. It's a non-partison issue, one could say. There was no electoral college tie in 2000 (even if Florida went Gore), so no reason to go to the House of Representatives.

Why do you think the recounts shouldn't have happened in Florida which you emphasized with "period?" The state law stipulates it must. It was the Bush adminstration taking it to the Supreme Court. Shouldn't you be supporting Gore/Lieberman on this one, rladew? Why are we circumventing the Constitution? Credit to the GOP they know a low turn out helps them, so they are tying up the courts challenging registrations and promise to challenge votes after the 2nd. Why is that any different than Democrats going to court over demonstrated voting problems? This is not the Dems using the courts to win, it's both sides. Bottom line is that I think we are going to have a very, very accurate election this time.
