Other than underscoring how hellish it is over there, I'm not sure what this story does. Some people may be openly skeptical (see the "just a story on the internet" in the comments). In some ways, this is what the military does. They are out there, bearing this burden for us. I'm sure there were similar stories out of Europe in the 40s, maybe not as gruesome. The thing is, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, et al. decided two years ago (Sept. 12th) that the death & suffering of American troops to free Iraq was a proper response to the al Qaeda attacks. We're sacrificing troops needlessly in Iraq, so we can have an imaginary coccoon of safety here at home.

Castro? I believe the piece also underscores Bush's delusion. It would be fascinating if Bush lost on the Military vote...

The Castro thing is incredible, if true. Do they poll the active military? Bush might very well not get a majority of that vote. They're mostly absentee ballots, which only get counted if the margin of victory is less than the number of absentee ballots collected for a voting ward.

Sure the washington note leans left, but my man doesn't lie. It's one of those things that's so out of left field, I really don't doubt it...
